So i decided to make a new topic, because the older ones where full / incomplete or just messy, and this way I could start over from page 1

This thread is all about the different types and colours of gameboy carts or add-ons. It's far from complete, but it's a good start.

------------------
NOTE: THIS GUIDE IS FAR FROM COMPLETE NOW, I KNOW. IT'S A WORK IN PROGRESS
------------------

We'll start with everything that'll fit into the DMG...

Official Gameboy Games

Grey
http://i46.tinypic.com/2yjwilw.jpg
Just your normal cart. most of the games have this one.
here featured: kirbey's block ball. Nothing special here.

Black
http://i45.tinypic.com/4smfrl.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/nq7nd2.jpg
Black carts where used for gameboy colour games that also could be played on the DMG. examples: zelda DX, Tetris DX.
Black carts where also used for the pokemon trading card game. (as well as a lot more japanese games, I came to find out later)

Red
http://i49.tinypic.com/5mbke8.jpg
Used for pokemon red.

Blue
http://i46.tinypic.com/2hwdhk.jpg
Used for pokemon blue

Yellow
http://i46.tinypic.com/2e1hoo1.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/200pus9.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/2ylmt1g.jpg
Used for pokemon yellow and at least 2 donkey kong land games and the Tamagotchi yellow game.

Silver (grey with sprinkles)
http://i49.tinypic.com/5oxuh3.jpg
Used for pokemon silver. Is a grey cart with some glitters

Gold
http://i45.tinypic.com/k0gfhy.jpg
Used for... you guessed it, Pokemon gold! It's gold coloured with gold coloured golden sparkles.*

Grey & Blue
http://i47.tinypic.com/2viqqlj.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/13ztm2p.jpg
The japanese versions of pokemon Gold & Silver where both half blue, half grey. both slightly darker than the normal grey and the pokemo blue cart. (pokemon silver has a grey front and a blue back, pokemon gold vice versa)

White
http://i46.tinypic.com/2r6nlvt.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/11779mo.jpg
The white cart was used for the white edition of the tamagotchi game, and also as a blank memory cart, GBメモリ. These carts could be loaded with games at special stores.

Pink!
http://i49.tinypic.com/aaer2v.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/2yju0c3.jpg
OMG! it's like.. Pink! (and it has a tamagotchi game on it). On the right is a 'power rangers the movie' game, also in a pink cart. Probably the same pink as the tamagotchi one, but not 100% sure.

The pink carts where used by Bandai, and might be used for more games than these two..

Light blue
http://i46.tinypic.com/mbstj7.jpg
This is a tamagotchi game with added sound module. The sound thingy wakes you up in the middle of the night when your tamagotchi is hungry, even if your gameboy is turned off...

Black with Rumblepack
http://i44.tinypic.com/mhzy11.jpg
Pokemon pinball has a rumblepack on top of the gamecart. It vibrates and stuff.

Gameboy Camera

http://i44.tinypic.com/211juhl.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/2hxohs2.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2cp9kas.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/2mmcl5x.jpg
Came in Yellow, Blue , Green and Red. Japanese version also had a transparent purple one.

http://i39.tinypic.com/65o3cz.jpg

The Japanese versions had different software (including Trippy-H, a musical game) and a different name. They where called Pocket Camera.

http://i40.tinypic.com/e5h8q0.jpg
Front of a Japanese Camera

http://i40.tinypic.com/2md08x4.jpg
Front of a American / European / anywhere else camera.
Notice the different name on the stickers.

Gameboy color games that'll fit into a DMG

Transparent Pink
http://i49.tinypic.com/iv91lz.jpg
Kirby Tilt n Tumble game.. although it's a gameboy colour game, it does have a notch for DMGs.

Dark Blue
http://i43.tinypic.com/smwwma.jpg
Dark blue normal DMG cart with Action Man game. Will fit in a DMG but only displays a note saying you can only play it on the GBC. The shade of blue might be the same as the dark blue from the japanese pokemon gold/silver, but i've got no way of checking that now.

Green
http://i43.tinypic.com/ri7knr.jpg
Same story as the Action Man game. This time it's Super Mario Bros. Deluxe in a green DMG game casing. Also a color game. It's kinda hard to see what shade of green it is, but it's green, and that's what counts.

Transparent with Rumblepack
http://i42.tinypic.com/fw2j4j.jpg
Star Wars racinggame with rublepack. Will fit into a DMG but is a GBC game

Unofficial / bootleg / etc

Dark green
http://i48.tinypic.com/1q3asi.jpg
Bootleg edition of pokemon green.

Grey
http://i45.tinypic.com/xm6glv.jpg
Bootleg games, doesn't say nintendo gameboy on the cart, just GAME, which is kinda funny.
read / see more here

Grey, XL
http://i42.tinypic.com/2infcy.jpg
Big Ass gamecart. With 150 games on it. Some bootleg carts where a bit bigger to put more games on it, I guess... Looks silly.
This one also has a reset button, which comes in handy when switching games.

Black with a yellow top
http://i43.tinypic.com/8x9eti.jpg
Smart Com cart. Contains all kinds of useful programs like calender and phonebook etc... Also has a way of communicating with Infra Red (can also be used as tv-remote, says website)
more info here

Grey
http://i39.tinypic.com/x289s1.jpg
Gameboy Radio. Not realy a game. Basically a radio that uses the gameboy's power to run. The screen of the gameboy only displays a logo-bar.

black
http://i40.tinypic.com/33k8677.jpg
Cleaning cart for the gameboy. It cleans the contacts and keeps it fresh. Probably would work on a GBC as well...

----------------------

Pictures stolen from: superbustysamuraimonkey, FamiKiller, drop1410, Google, ttocs, NeX, And other sources I can't remember...

If you know of any other gamecart / add-on that isn't listed? (like the gamesharks, pokemon pinball, freakishly large bootlegs, etc.) post it, and I'll add them.

----------------------

*might not contain real gold

This post is reserved for the different types of gameboy color carts. Updates will follow

It's also far from complete, as there is only one picture...
but it's green, so yay.

And now for another reason I started this thread.
I found something on the bay of E.

http://i39.tinypic.com/2wem5fm.jpg

It's a action man game in a dark blue housing. Since I don't have a pokemon blue cart, I can't be sure, but I think it's darker than that one. I've added a normal blue bic pen and a blue DMG in the picture for reference, it's darker than both. Might be the same blue as the japanese versions of pokemon gold/silver, but it's the same colour on front and back.

Also, it's the same shape as a DMG game, and fits in one perfectly, but when you try to play it, it says it's for gameboy colour only..

anybody seen one before? and can someone tell me if it's the same colour as the blue pokemon or darker?

do you want photos of all the gameboy cameras? i have all the jap ones and the euro ones, (slightly different text and different software) also hopefully i should have the gold gameboy camera coming soon too.

and i got most of the rumble games tho i don't have the awesome neon green one. and i have another dodgy rip off green cartridge. ermmm thats all i can think of at the moment.

i wish i had taken a screen shot of this auction on ebay, it was some really weird gameboy carts, like they must have been copies, because there were some great colours in there. i bided on it but it went too high

There, I added the gameboy camera's. Made some subsections, and added some weird stuff. Haven't added all the gameshark / gamegenie stuff yet, but that might come later. It's mainly for the gamecart colours anyway smile

Seems like there where some GBC games that came in weird coloured DMG carts. Like the action man game and the Mario deluxe game. Most of these came in normal GBC carts. So it's a bit of a mystery....

i dont own the cart anymore, last time i had one was way back when pokemon gs was being released so i might be wrong but iirc the extra stuff on the top of the cart was some sort of infra-red thingy. you would point it at the tv or point a control at it and unlock upgrades for your robopon.

You might mention the regular clear color cases.
